Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Parish Meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday 10th May at 7pm in the Winterslow village hall. All local residents are warmly invited to attend and refreshments will be provided. The monthly meeting of the Parish Council will follow the Annual Parish Meeting.
Planning
S/2007/497 – 96 Firs Road, Firsdown – Full application – Granny annexe. The Parish Council had no objections to this application.
S/2007/513 – Paddock House Cattery, Firsdown – Full application, extension to boarding cattery. The Parish Council had no objections to this application.
Porton Down walk
An evening walk has been arranged for Parish residents on Porton Down with the Conservation Officer at dstl in conjunction. The walk will encompass the wildlife and conservation of Porton Down. This will take place on Thursday 12th July at 6pm. Anyone wishing to attend will need to contact the Clerk giving their name, date of birth, nationality and car registration number (these details requested by dstl) at least two weeks before the walk. The maximum number of attendees is limited to thirty and no pets are allowed or anyone under the age of 18 years of age.
Highways
Police officers visited Firs Road early in March to monitor the speed of vehicles travelling along the road. It is envisaged that the police officers will re-visit to carry out further speed checks at an unspecified time. |
Neighbourhood Watch
At a recent meeting of Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators for the area the issue of speeding was discussed and it was good to hear that the local police will be producing the NHW Bulletin on a quarterly basis for distribution by either email or hardcopy.
Footpath 4
Following the ploughing of Footpath 4 a site meeting took place with Parish Council representation and an agreement has been made with the landowner and contractor to keep the currently designated path open. In addition in early Spring of each year a swathe will be cut along the whole length of the path to the same width as last year to allow ease of access and after any ploughing re-instatement will be swiftly made. Signs are to be placed along the path to indicate "NO HORSES".
Parish Plan
The committee members of the Parish Plan are in the process of creating a leaflet destined for all residents to inform them of the conclusions of the earlier survey. It is envisaged the leaflet will be combined with the Parish newsletter and that the time schedule for this to take place is likely to be in early June 2007.
Next Meeting: The next full meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday May 10th 2007 in the Committee Room, Winterslow Village Hall following the Annual Parish Meeting which begins at 7pm. |
