Refuse Compaction Vehicle (RCV)

Following the change to the Skip service, Salisbury District Council has now introduced the scheme of a manned refuse compaction vehicle available to each Parish.  The compaction vehicle will be available on 30th September between 7.30am and 11.15am.  Notification of the site of this refuse compaction vehicle for use by Parish residents only, and a list of those items suitable for compaction will be placed on Parish noticeboards in September.

Play area

Following much canvassing and consultation with residents the Parish Council has purchased new equipment for the area alongside the children’s play area.  The cost will be borne from the Parish Council’s allotted R2 funds.  The equipment will consist of a seating and basketball structure with goal mouth and will appeal especially to the teenagers of the village and is due to be erected in late September.

Parish Steward

It was reported that the Parish Steward will visit the Parish on 9th October 2006.  The Parish Council will liaise with Wiltshire Highways department to ensure all the necessary works are carried out within the Parish.

Highways and Speeding

The Parish Council is very concerned regarding the amount of vehicles continuing to exceed the 30mph speed limit in Firs Road, especially early in the morning and in the early evening.  In our wish to avoid incidents involving serious injury or worse, we have been advised by the police to take note of the car, registration details and dates of persistent offenders.  This information will be passed to the relevant police department for them to take the appropriate action.

Hedge and grass cutting

Grass cutting – It was confirmed that after several quotes had been sought, grass cutting had satisfactorily taken place six on the footpath to the play area and play area itself.  Further grass and hedge cutting will take place in the area of the permissive footpath from number 99 Firs Road to the bottom of the woods and the assigned area adjacent to the play area for the new play equipment.

From time to time the Parish Council requires maintenance work to be done on its behalf.  In order to compile a list of suitable possible contractors the Parish Clerk would welcome the details of those who would like to offer their services.

Next Meeting: The next full meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday October 5th 2006 at 7.15pm in the Committee Room, Winterslow Village Hall.
