Précis of November Meeting of Firsdown Parish Council:

Visit by WPC Amanda Warren, Rural Beat Manager

Amanda Warren of Amesbury Police station attended the November meeting with Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Christopher Miller to discuss the neighbourhood policing team’s scheme.  Amanda explained that the teams had been set up for the benefit of the rural villages.  A response team is still available for 24 hours of the day.  In addition the teams would work with the Salisbury District Council and other statutory bodies in an effort to solve crimes in the area.  A Councillor from the Parish Council had volunteered to sit on a panel that intended to meet every 3 months to discuss criminal activities.

Following a recent exercise to check speed levels in Firs Road,  the Parish Council is looking forward to a full analysis of the data collected.

Amanda Warren then gave a rundown of crimes committed in the last 3 months and it was agreed that the issue of speeding in Firs Road would be given a priority.

The Parish Exercise, which takes place every two years, was carried out in October and was a success.  The exercise consists of a telephone and paper exercise to assess how the Parish Council would react in the case of real life emergency.

Parish Council reminder to residents

The Parish Council would like to remind all residents that they should ensure that they clear all pavement encroachments e.g. weeds, overgrown vegetation on or near their properties for the benefit and safety of fellow Parishioners.

In order to maintain good relations with local landowners residents are asked to be respectful by not walking on recently ploughed and seeded fields towards the top of Firs Road.

Next Meeting: The next full meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Thursday December 7th 2006 at 7.15pm in the Committee Room, Winterslow Village Hall.
