Précis of February Meeting of Firsdown Parish Council:

Planning

S/2007/2515 – Trees with TPO – 3 Firs Close, Firsdown – note was made that permission had been granted for this work to take place by Salisbury District Council.

S/2008/140 – Firs Lodge, 43 Firs Road, Firsdown – Full application – New boundary wall and gates – the Parish Council had no objection to this application.

S/2008/191 – Full application – replace bay window with front extension to square up bedroom – the Parish Council had no objection to this application.

Roman Road

A lengthy discussion took place concerning the Roman Road.  The Roman Road is a Right of Way and owned by Wiltshire County Council and that there appears to be a dispute amongst certain residents because some residents appear to have extended their gardens and therefore encroaching on the Road.

After the discussion the Parish Council concluded (i) that it was up to the individual to talk to the landowner which is Wiltshire County Council if there appeared to be a dispute over the boundary line and that the Parish Council would not become involved (ii) advice regarding the archaeological nature of the site should be obtained from English Heritage and not the Parish Council as they were indeed the experts in this field.

The Parish Council’s concern is that a right of way is maintained, but that the disputes raised by certain residents are boundary ones and should be dealt with as recorded.
